I had been selling my images since I was 15. By the time I was 19 I thought I was pretty good. I got hired on a part time basis to carry stuff for a photographer. So in a sense all I was, was very cheap labor to carry stuff, my ability with a camera was incidental.

MY MISSION is to help photographers develop a solid understanding of the "HOWS and WHYS" behind making consistently great photographs.

I am an award-winning photographer (Cr.Photog.), author, and photo educator.

My photography career has been a rich tapestry spanning six decades. I began as a newspaper photojournalist and evolved as a commercial advertising and creative fashion photographer through four decades.

My work today involves photographing sports, photojournalism, and fashion portraiture, a variety that keeps me creatively inspired, motivated, and having FUN!

As a sought-after photography educator, I have motivated and educated countless photographers worldwide to help them develop their skills and achieve their goals. As an industry thought leader in photography education, I am known for my energetic and charismatic teaching style.

I have created over 300 educational videos, which have been viewed over 12 million times on YouTube by more than 180,000 subscribers in 114 countries. I have also published more than 200 articles about photography here on my website.

The Professional Photographers of America (PPA) awarded me the Photographic Craftsman Degree (Cr.Photog.). This title indicates that I have met the PPA’s standards of excellence and that my service to the photographic profession as an orator, author, and mentor has been recognized.

I have presented at photography conferences, dealer events, camera clubs, and workshops across the United States. I have been honored to be a featured speaker at WPPI, PhotoPlus, ImagingUSA, Shutterfest, ClickCon, Pixel Photo Fest, Bedford Photo Expo, Out of Chicago, Visual Storytelling Conference, Carolina Photo Expo, FCCC, SWMCCC, and numerous others.

Since March 2020, when the pandemic began, I have delivered over 400 virtual presentations to photographers in 4 countries across three continents.

I have authored numerous educational articles for Good Light!, Professional Photographer, and Rangefinder magazines.

My work is frequently featured on well-known photography blogs, including Fstoppers, DIYPhotography, PetaPixel, Lifehacker, ISO1200, Shutterbug, and LensVid.

I have been profiled in Good Light!, CameraCraft, and Olympus Passion Magazines, to name a few. I have also been a frequent guest on This Week in Photo (TWIP), Shutters Inc., Small Camera Big Picture, and the Fotofacts podcasts.

My photography has been published internationally in magazines such as Maxim, Cosmopolitan, Get Fit, Shape, and Good Light Magazine, to name a few. I have been called upon to complete assignments for the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. Throughout my career, I have serviced commercial advertising clients across the United States.

I am honored to have served as an Olympus Visionary, an elite team of photographers representing the camera manufacturer at trade shows and educational events across the United States. I have also served on the Tether Tools Pro Team. I have been selected as a StellaPro Champion of Light, a Delkin Devices Image Maker, and a Photoflex Light Leader, and I have been a featured photographer for Savage Universal. I have also presented at industry events as an educator for Tamron USA and Luminar. I have also served as an advisor/consultant to numerous manufacturers and suppliers in the photography industry.

In late 2022, I relinquished all sponsorships to assume a more important role as a “de-influencer” in the photography industry. My goal has been to educate photographers about the inner workings of the photography equipment manufacturing industry.

I have also been an adjunct professor teaching Creativity at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and Photography at Northampton County Community College in Monroe, PA.

In addition to my role as a photographer, I have been nationally recognized as an innovator in shaping models’ portfolios and careers. Simply put, I advised both new and experienced models about how to market themselves. I have written numerous articles with guidance and information for new and professional models, and I maintain the most comprehensive modeling agency directory online.

I have frequently been used as a source for television stories, newspaper, and magazine articles on the subject. The Author, JE Bright, references my writings in his book America’s Next Top Model: Fierce Guide to Life: The Ultimate Source of Beauty, Fashion, and Model Behavior. Author Rif K. Haffar has also referenced my work in his book Roadmap to Stardom: How to Break into Acting in Hollywood.

I am based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with my incredible wife and two four-legged kids.
